  • Moisturize: Keep your tattoo moisturized to prevent scabs from forming. Using an unscented lotion apply a thin layer one to two times a day for the duration of the healing period (which can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks) A thin layer of skin will start to peel off like a sunburn. It's normal to see some flakes of coloured skin fall off. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH THIS OFF. Let it fall off naturally.

  • Avoid soaking: Don't fully submerge your tattoo in water for at least two weeks. Don't go swimming or use a hot tub.

  • Avoid abrasive materials: Don't wear jewelry, shoes, clothing, or other abrasive materials that rub against your tattoo.

  • Wash hands: Don't let anyone touch your tattoo unless they've washed their hands (and only if they are helping you moisturize in an area you yourself cannot reach)

  • Wash gym equipment: Wash gym equipment well before using it.

  • After you take your bandage off KEEP IT CLEAN: Clean your tattoo to remove excess blood, plasma, or ink. Use an unscented soap to wash it first with warm water (lather wash and rinse, just with your hand, not a facecloth or anything) and then back to back with cold water (lather wash and rinse). Warm water gets off any extra blood or plasma. It's normal for a tattoo to bleed after getting it. Cold water cools your skin down.

  • Pat dry or let air dry and then apply your first THIN layer of an unscented lotion, tattoo ointment, etc. This usually goes on 1 - 2 times daily throughout the duration of the healing period.

  • Avoid picking: Don't pick, scratch, peel, rub, or irritate your tattoo. Scratching can lead to scarring. If you absolutely HAVE to slap it with clean hands (how technical right? lol)

  • Protect from the sun: Avoid direct sunlight for at least two to four weeks. UV rays can cause sunburn or make it fade. When you can go outside, wear loose-fitting clothing and stay in the shade. Once your tattoo is healed, use sunscreen regularly to protect it.

  • Hydrate: Drink lots of water to keep your skin healthy and your tattoo vivid.
